Vertis Communications CMO Appointed To Board of Direct Marketing Association of Washington (DMAW)

Participation Reflects Vertis’ Commitment to Leadership in the Direct Marketing Industry

BALTIMORE (Feb 24, 2010)—Vertis Communications, a results-driven marketing communications company that delivers inventive advertising, direct marketing and interactive solutions to prominent brands across North America, announced today that chief marketing officer Kathy Calta has been named as a member of the board of the Direct Marketing Association of Washington (DMAW).

Vertis’ engagement on the Washington regional Board, which is the second-largest direct marketing association in the US, reflects the company’s commitment to improving and evolving the direct marketing industry in partnership with other local businesses who share the same purpose. With more than 1,300 companies engaged, DMAW members include end-users, vendors, suppliers, agencies, freelancers, educators, and students, the majority of whom are located in the Washington Metropolitan, Baltimore, and Central Virginia areas.

“It is extremely important that the DMAW have a leader in each field represented on our board and, through Kathy’s appointment, Vertis Communications’ participation will help us more effectively serve our membership, plan more appropriate educational programs and target the right networking events,” said DMAW president George Lizama. “Kathy’s nomination to the board was in recognition of Vertis’ decades of excellence in the direct marketing industry as well as her breadth of direct and interactive industry-related experience.”

Through her role on the board, Calta will represent Vertis’ thought leadership in direct marketing and industry education by caring for and leading the DMAW both in organization and vision, while helping to strategically attract the return of the commercial market to the DMAW.  This will include conducting focus groups and the execution of targeted, relevant programming garnered toward industry progress.

I am proud to represent Vertis as a member of the DMAW board and to develop with the group fresh, exciting and relevant ways to engage members and influence companies related to the direct marketing industry,” said Calta. “Engagement on the board not only exposes Vertis to a wonderful network of related businesses, but also allows us to deepen our connections to the direct marketing industry in our community.”

Also representing Vertis as an industry leader is Quincy L. Allen, chief executive officer of Vertis Communications, who serves as a board member of the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering, Inc., the Electronic Document Systems Foundation and NCR Corporation.
